Carole (Zekoll) Williams, 81, of Greenwood, FL, passed away on Friday, January 3, 2020, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Cranford, NJ, to parents Henry Zekoll and Virginia Benner, Carole was a graduate of Cranford High School. While living in NJ, Carole trained horses at the Freehold Raceway and the Atlantic City Race Track, as well as for harness racing legends, Stanley and "Sonny" Dancer.
Carole loved painting and was an accomplished artist. She painted a mural for the Palm Beach County Florida Farm Bureau, commissioned portraits, as well as numerous works of art that she sold or gifted to various people and organizations. She was a past president of the Delray Art League, and enjoyed participating in art shows across the State of Florida.
She retired from the Broward County Florida Farm Bureau, where she was Office Manager and Board Secretary, and after retirement continued as a member of the Western Palm Beach County Farm Bureau Board of Directors. She was an outspoken advocate for farmers state-wide and nationally, was instrumental in the creation and coordination of numerous Farm Bureau-sponsored community projects and events, and loved teaching children about agriculture.
Carole was a lively, inspired and creative woman who loved her family, camping with her grandchildren, painting, and crisscrossing the State and the country with her friends.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Svachak.
Carole is survived by her children, Linda (Williams) Kauppinen, Lorraine (Williams) (Glann) Brecka, Raymond Williams; and her grandchildren, Erik Kauppinen, Shane Williams, Melissa (Glann) Longo, and Douglas Glann.
Her family will celebrate her life privately. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital will be appreciated.
