Wilma Cox Rauhe, 89, formerly of the Paramore community, entered into Heaven on April 7, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Rauhe; parents, Hardy and Eva Cox; and siblings Lela Hart, Mattie Lou Brogdon, Charles Cox, Berta Ledford, Myrtice Kazee, and Larry Cox. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children Sandra Hodel (Ken), Tracy Arflin (Gary), and Bruce Rauhe, Jr.; grandchildren Jason Behr (Jun), Ben Mueller (Stella), Daniel Mueller, Emily Fuller (Torri), Tim Fuller, Stephanie Williams (John), Christopher Arflin (Nichole), and Madeleine Rauhe; great-grandchildren Noah Behr, Ava Behr, and Jadie Williams; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
After graduating valedictorian from Malone High School in 1950, she followed her desire to serve others and completed her training to become a registered nurse in 1953 at Mercy Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. Her career began at Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee, Florida where she met her future husband on a blind date. His career in the United States Air Force allowed her to practice nursing at many hospitals across the United States and Germany.
Wilma loved God and serving others and did so through her church and the many organizations she was involved in throughout her life. She had a deep, profound faith, a generous and giving heart, a canny sense of humor, and the ability to connect with people from all walks of life. She enjoyed quilting, reading, baking (she was known for her coconut cake), gardening, volunteering, and, more than anything, loving on her family.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Circle Hill Baptist Church, 7170 Circle Hill Road, Sneads, FL. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her honor to Circle Hill Baptist Church or Covenant Care Hospice of Marianna, Florida.
