William Lamar Mercer, Sr.

William Lamar Mercer, Sr. 59, of Greenwood, Florida passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at South East Medical Center.

He was born July 25, 1965 in Donalsonville, GA to Doug Mercer and Shirley Ann Stanley.

He loved to go fishing, and was always making the most of every moment. Mercer believed in his family and in his Lord and Savior. He was always humble and willing to help anyone who needed it. He enjoyed buying, selling and trading, especially at yard sales and flea markets.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Doug Mercer and Shirley Ann Stanley.

William is survived by his wife of 24 years, Wanda Mercer; children, Will Mercer, Christina Nicole Berry, William Edward Blizzard, Tommy Lee Blizard; six grandchildren; siblings, Wade Mercer (Olivia), Melisa Diane Hartigan and husband Scott of Germany and Rhonda Kay Thomas and husband Jason, Benny Cox, Ricky Whitaker.

Memorial service will be 2 PM Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel with Pastor David Sizemore officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 PM until the time of service. 

Memorialization will be by cremation with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
