James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel William Lee Gay, 89, of Alford passed away Friday, July 5, 2013 in Graceville. Mr. Gay was born in Jackson County on April 8, 1924. He served in the Marines 6th Division. He was a building contractor and cement finisher. He loved fishing and gardening. He was a wonderful and proud father, grandfather, great and great great grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife, Avie Lee Gay and wife, Bertha Gay; his parents, Willie and Jeannie Benefield Gay; three brothers, Horace Gay, JL Gay and Willie Earl Gay. He is survived by two daughters, Annette Braxton, Geraldine Powell and husband, Wilmer all of Alford; three sons, Millard Gay of Alford, Jerry Gay and wife, Glenda of South Carolina, Billy Gay and special friend, Stephanie of Alford; two brothers, George Gay of Alford, RL Gay of Panama City; two sisters Louise Kent of Panama City, Lois Harris of Alford; grandchildren, Keely Gilbert and husband, Michael of Alford, Joanna Anderson and husband, Jamie of Texas, Kendall Braxton of Alford, Danielle Cox and husband, Chad and Jeremy Gay and wife, Nichole both of South Carolina, Gerald Powell and Bobbie of Panama City, Matthew Powell and wife, Melanie of Mississippi, Nan Powell of Alabama, Willy Gay and wife Demara of Alford, and Mike Gay of Texas; 12 great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel with Rev. Ellis Vickery officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 8, 2013 at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel
