William Gilbert Byrd

William Gilbert Byrd, 68, of Marianna died Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Jackson Hospital in Marianna. Born in Ft. Myers, Florida on January 23, 1944, Gilbert graduated from Ft. Myers High School and was a U. S. Army veteran and a long time resident of Marianna. Gilbert had a heart of gold and loved having BBQ's and getting together with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, A. P. and Katherine Byrd and a sister Mary Ann Isturis. Survivors include two sons, Gibby Byrd of Marianna; Aaron Byrd and wife Janet of South Florida; three grandchildren, Donnie, Ben and Dakota; the mother of his children, Penny Byrd of Ft. Myers; a sister, Linda Matson and a brother, Richard Byrd; numerous nieces and nephews. A Service of Remberance will be held at 11am, Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at the New Hope Baptist Church in Marianna. Memorization will be by cremation with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel in charge of arrangements."
