William Eli Burke

James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel William E. Burke, 76, of Marianna died Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at his residence. Mr. Burke was a lifelong resident of Marianna. He served in the U.S. Army for four years, retired from the Arthur G. Dozier School for Boys and was a Baptist by faith. Mr. Burke dedicated his life to hard work and taking care of his family. He was preceded in death by his only beloved son, Eddie Burke; mother, Evelyn Mead and father, Mitchell Burke. He is survived by his wife, of 56 years Dorothy Burke; one sister, Opal Dykes of Panama City; two brothers, Wayne Mead and Steve Mead both of Houston TX.; one daughter-in-law, Donna Burke of Cottondale; two grandsons, Eli Burke, Jock Burke and wife, Erica all of Marianna; three great grandchildren, Morgan, Ethan and Levi Burke; a host of nieces, nephews and many loving friends. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, January 13, 2014 at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel. Burial will follow in Cypress Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services.
