Walter A. Peeler, 81 of Malone passed away on Saturday morning, April 23, 2016 at his residence. He was a lifelong resident of this area and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Malone. Papa enjoyed spending time with family, going to Gospel sings and riding the country in his pickup truck. Mr. Peeler was a semi truck driver for more than 50 years. He traveled all over the United States and did not really need a road map.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Ollie B. Peeler, brother, Major Harold Peeler, Robert Allen Peeler and Roy Peeler
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Vivian Peeler; one son, Bobby (Sharon) Peeler; one daughter, Brenda (Roger) Welch; one brother, Howard (Martha) Peeler, two sisters, Emma Ruth Taylor and Patricia Holland; grandchildren, Amy (Michael) Askew, Beth (Wade) King, Shannon Welch, April Welch, Sherry (Michael) Padgett, Jamie (Christina) Peeler, Brad (Brooke) Peeler and 16 great grandchildren.
Funeral services 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Friendship Baptist Church with Revs. Greg Ford and John Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2016 at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel.
