Wallace Hurbert Peel

Wallace Hubert Peel, 94, of Marianna died Monday, April 5, 2010 at Jackson Hospital. Mr. Peel was a native of Washington County, graduated from Chipley High School and The University of Florida. He later moved to Marianna where he established W. H. Peel Furniture Company in 1946. Mr. Peel was a lifelong cattleman and timberman. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Marianna. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline; his parents, V. A. Peel and Hallie Malloy Peel of Chipley; a brother, Herbert Ivey Peel, Sr., of Bonifay; two brothers-in law; John McDaniel & W. J. Rawls; two sisters-in-law, Estelle Rawls & Edna Messer. Survivors include his son, Doyle Peel and wife, Jan, of Chipley; daughter, Vera Furtick and husband, Mike, of Sarasota; grandchildren, Jackson Peel, Graham Peel, Malloy Lacktman and husband, Nathaniel, Johanna Wood, Katie & Sally Furtick; great-grandchildren, Hendrix Peel, Morgan Peel, Oliver Lacktman;two sisters-in-law, Polly Peel of Bonifay, and Coreane McDaniel of Perry; two nephews, Herb I. Peel, Jr., John McDaniel; two nieces Ann Cordell, Reba Olcott. Graveside funeral services will be at 2 p.m. CDT, Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at Shiloh Baptist Cemetery near Chipley with Rev. Rhul Edenfield officiating. James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel of Marianna directing.
