Virginia "Ginger" Ann Kennedy, 84, of Tallahassee, died peacefully on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at her residence in Tallahassee, Florida.
She was born October 3, 1939, in Bay County, Florida to Thomas Eugene and Mozelle Freeman Martin. She met the love of her life, John B. Kennedy, Jr., in the summer of 1963 and married in March of 1964. They were married for 59 wonderful years.
Virginia worked as a bank teller before marrying John. After they married, she became a homemaker, keeping the home running and raising her children, all while helping John build their dream house. She enjoyed cooking, baking and sewing, especially for her family. She proudly served as a Missionette leader at church for several years, leading young girls to Christ. She loved listening to and singing gospel songs. She always had a deep faith and gentle personality. Her dedication to her family and friends was immeasurable.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Eugene Martin and Mozelle Freeman Martin; and son-in-law, Ken Richards.
Ginger is survived by her children, John B. Kennedy, III (Kit), Stephanie Richards, Michelle Knight (Terry); grandchildren, Jason Moore, Johnathan Moore, Amber Kennedy, Heather Kennedy, Hope Richards, Joy Richards, Autumn Kennedy and Tiffany Knight; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Margaret Leach, Mary Watson, Betty Pitts (Doug), Thomas Martin (Libby), Sue Glass, (Tom), Peggy Strickland, Faye Kinderman (Brian) and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM EST Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at Tallahassee National Cemetery with Pastor Marty Martin officiating and James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
