Mrs. Vertie Lee Elmore, 89 of Geneva, formerly of Noma passed away Sunday, August 9, 2009. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, August 15, 2009 at the Chapel of James & Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Cone officiating. Burial will follow in Noma Cemetery with James & Lipford Funeral Home in Graceville directing. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Ms. Vertie was born in Holmes County, Florida on September 23, 1919 to the late Johnny Lee and Beatrice Rushing Corbitt. A graduate of Bonifay Class of 1940, she worked as a weaver in textile for several years and then retired in retail as a accountant. Ms. Vertie, beloved mother and grandmother, enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Elmore, four brothers and one sister. She is survived by three sons Vender Lamar Elmore, Ronald Lee Elmore, Sr. both of Geneva, AL, Doyle Wayne Elmore of Lafayette, LA; two daughters Linda Faye Enos of Rose Pine, LA, Constance Josephine Cooper of Noma, FL; brother S.A. "Red" Corbitt of Slocomb, AL; sister Colleen Baxley of Graceville; eighteen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
