Vernon Leroy "Roy" Pruett, Jr.

Vernon Leroy (Roy) Pruett, Jr. , passed away at his home in Silver Lake Estates, Marianna, Fl. on Saturday, December 5, 2009. He was born January 9, 1949, in Washington, North Carolina. He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Shattenberg Weatherly, his father, Vernon Leroy Pruett, Sr., and his father-in-law, Fred L. Harris. He was of Protestant Faith. Roy was a Disabled American Veteran who served his country during the Vietnam war as a Boatswain's Mate in the United States Navy. He served from July 1966, until his discharge in October 1969. Roy spent much of his adult life in Los Angeles, California, where he worked as a truck driver. He later settled in Marianna, and worked in farming. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed all the wonders of nature. His kind and gentle spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his wife, Susan Maddox Pruett, his stepsons, Shannon Maddox and wife Sarah, Jason Maddox and wife, Mary, Benjamin Maddox and wife Nikki, Jeromy Maddox, their children, and mother-mother-in-law, Joan Harris, all of the Marianna area. He is also survived by his brother, Danny peck and wife Muriel of Orlando, two sisters, Connie Brooks of Youngstown and Bonnie Miles of Fountain and their families. Memorization will be by cremation with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel in charge of arrangements. "
