Vergelina Tyus

James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel Vergelina M. Tyus, 84, of Marianna, died Saturday, September 8, 2012, at Marianna Health and Rehab. She was born in Chattahoochee on June 26, 1928 to the late Bertie and Ada McLane. Mrs. Vergelina was a lifelong resident of Jackson County and was retired from Florida State Hospital as a Psychiatric Aide. She was a long time member of the Shady Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church. Mrs. Vergelina was preceded in death by her husband, Troy L. Tyus Sr., parents, Bertie and Ada McLane. She is survived by two daughters, Saundra Applewhite and Dianne Tyus Berry both of Marianna; two sons, Ted Tyus and wife Charlotte of Sneads and Troy Tyus Jr. of Marianna; one brother, Ronald Benjamin Carpenter; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m., Wednesday, September 12, 2012, at James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel with Rev. Jack Howell officiating. Burial will follow in Cow Pen Pound Cemetery with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at James and Sikes Maddox Chapel.
