Tony Michael Capps

Tony Michael Capps, 67, born in Tampa, Florida, died Saturday, June 10, 2023, at his residence. He was the son of Rev. Earl R. Capps and Roberta Curry Capps. Tony was honored to serve his country in the United States Army, as well as the National Guard. He worked as an animal trainer and showman for Ringling Bros. Circus. Tony lived in the Marianna area over 25 years and enjoyed volunteering at the First United Methodist Church in Marianna. For over 15 years, he served in the music ministry as part of the praise band and worked with the sound team at First United Methodist. He was a musician and truly loved music and serving wherever there was a need.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Earl and Roberta Capps; and nephew, Mark Capps. Tony is survived by one brother, Greg Capps (Susan) of Georgia, one sister, Susan Smith of Florida, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 24, 2023, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Nathan Atwood and Rev. Dr. Ronald Martin officiating. Interment will be in the family plot at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church in Holmes County, Florida, with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

The family will begin receiving friends one hour prior to the funeral service in the sanctuary of First United Methodist 2901 Caledonia Street, Marianna, Florida.

In lieu of flowers the family requested donations to First United Methodist Church of Marianna.
