James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel Howard H. "Tommy" Thompson, 86, of Marianna died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011 at his residence. He was born in Lake City, served in the U S Army, veteran of WW ll, having served in Iceland and Greenland. Tommy was in the American Legion serving as a post commander and as the northern area commander and a member of the color guard. He retired as an electronic technician with Naval Air Station in Jacksonville. Mr. Thompson then moved to Marianna where he has lived for the past 35 years. He was preceded in death by his parents Rev. Henry Howard and Rosa Lee Drawdy Thompson; two sisters, Florette LeBlanc and Frances Thornton. Survivors include his wife Syble Pittman Thompson of Marianna; one daughter, Elizabeth Jordan and husband Robert of San Angelo, TX; one step son, Jim Fulford and wife Wendy of Boise Idaho; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb 12, 2011 at Greenwood Baptist Church with Rev. Gino Mayo officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Homes Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to funeral, Saturday at the church.
