He has lived most of his life in Jackson County and was self employed and attended Welcome Assembly of God Church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Erma Mathis, and his step-mother Daisy Mathis; two brothers, Robert Herrin Jr. and George Herrin. Survivors include his two daughters, Mindy Brannock and Maria Wasilko both of Bradenton; his father, Thomas A. Mathis, Sr. and wife Jeanette of Dellwood; special friend Ronna Taylor; four brothers, Glen, Timmy and Gary Herrin all of Tallahassee; two sisters, Betty Lahtinen and Katie Kelley both of Tallahassee; Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at Welcome Assembly of God Church near Dellwood with Rev. Charles Jackson and Dr. Thomas Batts officiating. Burial will follow in Mathis Memorial Gardens. James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel will direct.
