Mr. Mathis was a long time member of Welcome Assembly of God in Dellwood. Preceded in death by his parents, John A. Mathis & Anna H. Mathis; first wife, Erma G. Mathis, second wife Daisy Mathis, his son, Thomas A. Mathis, Jr., sisters, Ceil Stoutamire, P. Eleanor McDonald, Maybell Hollingsworth; two brothers, John A. Mathis, Jr. and Cliston Mathis. He is survived by his wife, Jeannette Mathis, daughter, Betty Lahtinen, one brother, Hoyle L. "Buster" Mathis and wife, Myra of Sopchoppy; one sister-in-law, Betty Jo Mathis of Wiley, GA.; multitude of nieces and nephews; special dear friends, Thomas & Dianne Green; Norma & Roy Evers. He was "Big Papa" to granddaughters, Angel Vonada, Anna Yawn, Joy Kaphegian, Mindy Brannock and Maria Wasilko; grandson, Larry Bly, Jr. of Orlando; and great-granddaguther Samantha Yawn. Funeral services will be at 11a.m. Wednesday, at Welcome Assembly of God Church with Dr. Thomas Batts & Charles Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Mathis Memorial Gardens near Dellwood with James & Sikes Funeral Home Madox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m.Tuesday, March 16, at Welcome Church, 6784 Messer Road, Grand Ridge, FL., 32442.
