Thomas Allen Browning, 72, of Marianna, died Friday, December 21, 2012 at the VA Hospital in Lake City, Florida. Tom was born in Venus, Florida to Thomas Butler Browning and Carmen Parker Browning (both deceased). The family moved to Marianna in 1949, and Tom later graduated from Marianna High School. Upon graduation, Tom served in the Navy for six years where he was a sonar man aboard the destroyer, 'USS Hamner'. After leaving the Navy, Tom worked in Las Vegas and Reno, Nevada until 1978, when he returned home to Marianna. In Marianna, Tom worked at the Department of Corrections, from which he retired. Tom is also predeceased by brother-in-law, Eugene Chason. He is survived by two sisters, Dorothy Chason and Ora Mock (and husband Charles), all of Marianna, seven nieces and nephews, Debby Green, Gregory Mock, Garry Chason, Karen Dean, Lisa Sanford, Victor Mock and Kimberly Miles and seventeen great nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Wednesday, December 26, 2012 from 5 to 7 p.m. at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel. Funeral services will be on Thursday, December 27, 2012, 10:00 am, at the James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel with Rev.Gary Cook officiating. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the Sneads American Legion Post 241 James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
