Theodore "Ted" S. Walt

Theodore "Ted" S. Walt, 84, of Marianna died at his residence Thursday, June 21, 2007. Ted was born December 22, 1922 in Waldport, OR., and had resided in Marianna since 2004. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served in WWII. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Education followed by a Masters and a Phd while serving 35 years as Teacher, Principal and Assistant Superintendent of School where he retired from Coos County School Dist. in Coos Bay, OR. He loved golf, fishing and hunting and was a member of the American Legion, a life member of the VFW and a charter member of Marianna VFW. Post 12046 and was of the Episcopal faith. Mr. Walt was preceded in death by his wife, Delores and a brother, Pete Walt. Survivors include; a daughter, Kathy Slannon of Keizer, OR.; step-children, Ann Hanson of Longview, WA, Bill Jones of Mesquite, NV., Rob Wall, Chuck Wall and Tim Wall all of Coos Bay, OR.; 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and his long time companion, Liz Huber of Marianna. Memorization will be by cremation with interment at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, OR, James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel in charge of arrangements.
