Allen of Graceville passed away Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008 at North Florida Rehabilitation and Nursing Center following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Monday, February 18, 2008 at the Damascus Baptist Church with Rev. Hilary Stewart and Dr. Jerry Oswalt officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery with James & Lipford Funeral Home in Graceville directing. Family will receive friends at the church on Monday 10 a.m. until time of service. Family request memorials be made to the Baptist College of Florida General Scholarship Fund 5400 College Ave. Graceville, FL 32440. Mrs. Allen, a retired school teacher, was born in Zionsville, Indiana on June 18, 1914. She retired from the Jackson County School Board and was a member of the Damascus Baptist Church. Mrs. Allen was dedicated to the ministry along with her beloved husband serving churches in Alabama, Georgia, Florida and Puerto Rico. She was known by her pleasant spirit. Devoted to the welfare of her students, Mrs. Allen was always sharing a smile, a kind word and a scripture. She is survived by her beloved husband of 70 years, J.D. Allen of Graceville; son David Allen of Graceville; daughter Dorothy Hasher of Palm Harbor, FL; three grandchildren Valerie, Joshua, Brooke; a special nephew William "Bill" Allen and wife Barbara of Indialantic, FL; several other nephews and nieces.
