Teddy “Ted” Eugene Hicks was born November 7, 1952, in Panama City, Florida, to Leon and Marie Hicks. Ted spent many days as a young man drawing, as he aspired to be a cartoonist. His artistic talent led him to a long and successful career as an architect. He helped design many residential homes and significant commercial projects, such as the Administration Building at Troy University, the Poultry Science Building at Auburn University, the new addition to Bryant-Denny Stadium, as well as numerous correctional institutions. In addition to drawing, Ted enjoyed calligraphy, spoiling his 3 grandkids and moonlighting as a Facebook comedian.
Ted was preceded in death by his mother Marie Florence Durden Hicks, his father Leon Hicks Sr., and his brother Leonard Leon Hicks
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda Sue Powell Hicks of Eufaula, AL, one son Leonard Craig Hicks (wife Dana), of Marianna, FL, three grandchildren, Steven Hicks (wife Kaitlyn), Emily Paul (husband James), and Kenzie Hicks, one sister, Glenda Simmons (husband Don), one brother, Leon Hicks, Jr. (wife Sharon), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to a celebration of life service on Monday, January 23, 2023 at Eufaula First Assembly of God Church in Eufaula, Alabama. Visitation will begin at 9:00AM, followed by a service at 10:00 AM. There will be a brief public graveside service at 2:30 PM on the same day, Monday afternoon at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Marianna, Florida. James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel of Marianna will direct these services.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the West Florida District Council’s AG Summer Camp Scholarship Fund.
