Sylvan I. Battistin, 77 of Spring Hill, FL passed away Monday, May 25, 2009 at Oak Hill Hospital. Mr. Battistin was born in Weehawken, NJ on March 13, 1932 to the late Giovanni and Elide Pietri Battistin. During his enlistment in the U.S. Navy, for which he proudly served his country during the Korean War, he met his future wife, the former Mary Clyde Ward, a Navy Wave. He worked for many years for Nu-Car Carriers and retired a Teamster. His interests and passions were many and varied and included photography, cooking, baking, reading and travel. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Clyde Battistin of Spring Hill, FL, daughter Lisa and her husband, Hal of Homosassa, FL, daughter Tricia [Trish] Battistin of Los Angeles, CA, grandchildren Joshua Battistin of Tampa, FL, Rebekah and Taylor Bowman of Homosassa, FL, sister Lola and her husband Albert Kuehnapfel of Lake Ariel, PA and a plethora of nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, May 28, 2009 at Marvin Chapel Cemetery in Graceville with Rev. Chester Padgett officiating, full military honors will be by the Sneads American Legion Post #241. Family will receive friends at the funeral home 10 a.m. until time of service.
