Susan Harrison Dunaway

Susan Harrison Dunaway passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of December 15, 2021 surrounded by family.  She was preceded in death by her Father and Stepmother, G.C. “Harry” and Ann Harrison and Mother and Stepfather, Elizabeth Davis Pooser and Charles Pooser, Beloved Husband Billy Wayne Williams and Beloved Husband Fletcher Ryals Dunaway.

She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Judy Harrison of Alford, FL, stepsisters Priscilla Sims Murphy (Tom) of Oldsmar, FL, and Penny Sims Hutt of Panama City Beach, FL, children Jennifer Basford Gunter (Bart) of Tallahassee, FL, Martin Harrison Basford (Tiffany) of Marianna, FL, Sarah Williams Beach of Crawfordville, FL, Melanie Lee (Ray) of Clearwater, Tonya Dunaway Lavergne of Ridgeland, MS, and Teri Dunaway Gleason (Jay) of Madison, MS, 14 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, beloved nephews and nieces, and many special and wonderful friends.

She attended Greenwood School and was the last crowned Miss Greenwood High in 1972. She had a long and rewarding career in purchasing with the State of Florida and retired from the Florida Department of Corrections. Her favorite place on earth was Mexico Beach, and she made many friends and enjoyed wonderful times there. She will be missed but she reassured us that she knew where she was going and that she was at peace.

Funeral services will be Friday, December 17, 2021 at 3 PM at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel with Pastor Emily Hagan officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Methodist Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 16, 2021 from 4-6 PM at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel.
