Steven Allen Payne, 59, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Broward General Hospital’s hospice unit.
Steven was born in Macon, Georgia, on March 11, 1962. He was the third child born to Parkey P. Payne Jr. and Freda Payne Porter. Steven graduated from Grand Ridge HIgh School in 1980 and upon graduating joined the military. After his duty in the military, Steven moved to Jacksonville, Florida, and became interested in real estate and housing. Later, he would move to Ft. Lauderdale and begin his own business. He loved his family and friends. Steven overcame many obstacles in his life; loved helping at his church, and was a dedicated friend.
Steven is preceded in death by his parents, Parkey P. Payne Jr. and Freda Payne Porter; his brothers; William A. Payne and Darrell E. Payne.
Steven is survived by his two sisters; Belinda McLane and husband, Alan of Panama City, Florida, and Pam Clark and husband, Darrell of Grand Ridge, Florida; his stepfather, Terry Porter of Cypress, Florida; and a host of nephews and nieces and aunts, uncles, and cousins; and long-time friend and caregiver, Keith Thompson.
The Payne family would like to express our gratitude for the care and support that Keith Thompson and the Hospice unit at Broward General Hospital provided to Steve during his time of need. Your acts of kindness and good deeds for Steven will not be forgotten.
Private graveside funeral services were conducted Monday, October 11, 2021 at 4 PM at Cypress Cemetery with Pastor Juno Douglas officiating. James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directed.
