Stella Newsome Lee

James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel Stella Newsome Lee, 98, of Marianna, passed away Friday, December 14, 2012 at Jackson Hospital. She had been a resident at the Marianna Health and Rehab center since July 6, 2009. Stella was born May 12, 1914, in the Hickory Level Community to Joe and Louzoria Newsome. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, and her husbands, Mr. William A. Austin (the father of her children), Mr. Walter B. Jones, and Mr. Woodrow W. Lee, and her son-in-law, Mr. Hubert E. Tidwell. Mrs. Stella was a devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking for her family, keeping her grandchildren, sewing, working in her flower garden, reading her bible and going to church. She was a faithful member of the First Assembly of God Church, Marianna, since 1935. She especially enjoyed quilting. She gave all of her children and grandchildren quilts, and also quilted for others. Mrs. Lee is survived by her children, Mr. Wayne Austin and wife, Beth, of Youngstown, FL., Mrs. Luverne Tidwell, and Mrs. Judy Tipton and Husband, Roy, of Marianna, and a stepson, Mr. Timothy W. Jones of Marianna; eight grandchildren, Mr. Gregory E. Tidwell and wife, Sherry, of Bascom, Mr. Ronnie Austin and wife, Denise, of Navarre, Mrs. Kim Hagan and husband, Jeff, of Marianna, Mrs. Tammi Swearington and husband, Mike, of Panama City, Mrs. Melody Llewellyn and husband, Ronnie, of Frisco, TX., Mr. William A. Tidwell of Marianna, Tech. SGT. Coby W. Austin and wife, Rosie, of San Antonio TX., and Mrs. Dawn Benton and husband, Tim, of Marianna. She is also survived by 20 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m Sunday, Decmeber 16, 2012 at the First Assembly of God Church in Marianna with Revs. Stephen Potter and Jeff Hagan officiating. Family will receive friends Saturday, December 15, 2012 from 5 to 7 p.m. at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
