Ruth Marshall Smith

James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel Ruth Marshall Smith died in Jackson Hospital August 22, 2013. She was born in Midland City Al, September 10, 1919 to Mary Elizabeth and Major Marshall. She moved from Pensacola to Marianna in 2004. She was a member of Olive Baptist Church in Pensacola. In Marianna she attended Eastside Baptist Church and was a member of the Faithful Sunday School Class. She and husband T.J. Smith were married for 62 years. Ruth is pre-deceased by her parents; husband, T.J., a sister Irene M. Williams of Marianna; three brothers, Ralph, Coy, and Doyle Marshall. She is survived by two sisters, Lee Hewett and Margie Hartzog of Jacksonville, Fl. Locally, she is survived by a niece, Jean Harris and husband, James E. "Ebby" Harris; nephews, Don Williams and wife, Margie, Dan Hewett and wife, Reba; two great nieces, Marsha Wise and Renea Hilton; also survived by several nieces, nephews, and a special aunt, Mollie Ruth Marshall Cain of Dothan, Al. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 25, 2013 at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel with Rev. John Rollyson officiating. Burial will be in Bayview Memorial Park Cemetery in Pensacola. James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel will direct. The family will receive friends one hour prior to funeral services at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel. The family request that flowers be omitted. Memorial contributions may be made to Eastside Baptist Church or First United Methodist Church in Marianna.
