d. March 11, 2013

James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel Ruth Ellen Conrad Peacock, 80, of Marianna, passed from this life and entered eternal rest Monday, March 11, 2013, at home, surrounded by family and her loving caregiver. She was born August 5, 1932 in Two Egg, Florida to the late W.E. Conrad and Laura Brogdon Conrad Hatcher. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Henry Jefferson Peacock, and a daughter Brenda Peacock. She was a loving and devoted wife to her husband from the time of their marriage on December 9, 1950 until his passing on October 18, 2001. The two were loving parents and grandparents who willingly gave of themselves to express their love to family in so many ways. Many fond memories were made and will now be cherished by her family of camping, fishing, skiing, boating, birthdays, Christmas mornings and just wonderful times spent together. She was a past long time employee of Watson's Drug and Gift Shop in Marianna where she loved to work. After retiring from the work force, she loved to read, write, paint, and reminisce of her days of travel with husband Henry while they were in the military, some of which took them to Missouri, Washington DC, France and Germany. Before failing health forced them to do otherwise, the two could often be found at Ingram's Marina on Lake Talquin enjoying the good life of fishing and relaxation. During these times they were hosts many, many times to family and friends who joined them there for fish fries and fellowship. She is survived by a daughter, Jean Broome (Elwin), a son, Ronald Peacock (Becky), all of Marianna, a sister Edith Fellows of Smithville, Arkansas, three grandchildren, Eric Broome (Lori) of Crestview, FL, Jennifer Ellen Wirth of Tampa, FL, and Laura Peacock of Marianna, seven great grandchildren, Gracie Taylor Broome, Hadley Christine Broome, Aubrey Jean Broome, Jami Lynn Broome, Levin Kaide Dewey, Charles Devin Wirth, and Kathryn Ruth Wirth, numerous nieces and nephews, and dedicated friend and caregiver Ms. Violet Culpepper. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, March 14, 2013, at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel with Reverend Jack Howell, Reverend Roland Rabon, and Reverend Stephen Potter officiating. Burial will follow at Dykes Cemetery in Grand Ridge, FL with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel.
