Ruth Jeannette Moore, 89, died peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, May 22, 2016.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Sophronia Lee; father, Thomas Blakeley; step father, Aubrey Lee; the father of her children, Arthur Moore; twin sons, Rannie and Dannie Moore; and two sons-in-law, Wilton Spence and William "Bill" Arnold. Jeannette is survived by her Children; Joe Moore (Kathy) of Covington, Louisiana, Tommy Moore (Rese) of Marianna, Olivia Spence, Elizabeth Arnold, Kathy Rich (Jimmy) all of Bonifay; 11 grandchildren, Bridgette Rosa, Brandon Moore, Amanda White, Ben Harrison, Aaron Moore, Claresa Moore, Candace Hakenjos, Blair Englade, Adam Rich, Jennifer Rich and Blake Rich; 11 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Jeannette, known to most as "Granny", was born on March 11, 1927, in Columbus, Georgia, to Thomas Lewis Blakeley and Sophronia Tomblin Blakeley. In 1943, she moved to Holmes County at the age of 16 after living most of her childhood in an orphanage in Columbus, Georgia. She graduated from Bethlehem High School as the Valedictorian of the class of 1946.
In May of 1948, Jeannette began a relationship with the Lord that would become the foundation for the life that she lived. In 1949, she was filled with the Spirit and became a member of Carmel Assembly of God Church where she remained an active member until her passing. She served in full-time ministry as a Pastor's wife for 31 years. She then continued to serve others as a prayer warrior and encourager for the remaining 27 years of her life, totaling 58 years of ministry.
Jeannette's life was marked by her Christ-like character, which was exemplified through her famous hugs and encouraging words. She was gifted in hospitality, floral arranging, her green thumb, her love for fashion and any good pair of high heel shoes. She was especially gifted in the area of cooking. Her dressing, fried chicken, potato salad, and banana pudding were a favorite to people all over the world.
Nothing in the world brought her more joy than her family. She cherished every relationship that God blessed her with throughout her lifetime. To everyone, she was their "Granny" and they were her "youngins". It was her life goal to be the greatest grandmother and mother she could possibly be; and that goal was well achieved.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2016, at Carmel Assembly of God Church, 1485 Carmel Church Road in Bonifay, with Reverends Tommy Moore, Jerry Moore, Jonathan West, and Mark Jakelsky officiating. Interment will follow in Carmel Church Cemetery, with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2016, at Carmel Assembly of God Church.
