Ruby Cook Edenfield, 84, of Marianna went to be with the Lord Saturday, October 17, 2009 at Jackson Hospital. Born April 29, 1925 in Calhoun County to Will and Sarah Goodwin Cook, Mrs. Edenfield was a life long resident of Jackson County where she worked as a CNA at Marianna Convalescent Center until retirement where she cared for several homebound patients. She also was a trusted babysitter for her grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many others. A beloved member of Lighthouse Community Church where her sister Frances Dudley is the pastor. She was preceded in death by her husband Otis Edenfield and her parents, three brothers, Claude Cook, Hershel Cook and Charles W. Cook. Survivors include her son, Jessie Edenfield and wife Ronda of Marianna; grandchildren, Elizabeth and John Edenfield; great grandchildren, Tristan and Dena Edenfield; two step granddaughters Katrina Reese and husband Timmy, Heather Wartenberg and husband Barry; two sisters, Louise Lollie of Grand Ridge and Pastor Frances Dudley of Marianna; a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be 2 pm Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at Maddox Chapel with Rev. Frances Dudley officiating. Interment will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm Monday, October 19, 2009 at Maddox Chapel. Flowers will be accepted or contributions maybe made to Lighthouse Building Fund."
