James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel Roy Perkins, 71, of Bascom died Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan. Born and raised in Jackson County, Mr. Perkins was a US Army veteran. He was a dedicated family man, farmer and fisherman. He retired from Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee, FL, after 35 years of service. Mr. Perkins was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Faye Williams Perkins; a son, Anthony Roy Perkins; his parents, Fletcher and Martha Matilda Ray Perkins; six brothers and five sisters. Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Charlene Ford of Milton, Amanda Hope Perkins of Bascom; one grandson, Robert DeWayne "Peewee" Ford; one great-grandson, Christian Mika Ford; two sisters, Nancy Owens of Dellwood, Annie Maye Rehberg of Cottondale; special sister-in-law, Virginia Perkins; special buddies, Mason Alan Friedrich and Matt Land. Funeral service will be 2 pm Sunday, September 28, 2014 at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel with Rev. Earl Clark officiating. Interment will follow in Hickory Grove Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors provided by Sneads American Legion Post 241 of Sneads. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Saturday, September 27, 2014 at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel.
