James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel David Rodolph West Sr (Rudolph) , died at his residence Wednesday, February 5, 2014. He was 91 years old. Mr. West was a life-long resident of Jackson County except for the time of his willingness to live elsewhere while doing his duty for the U.S. Army Air Corp in preparing B-29 aircraft for the planned invasion of the island of Japan. He said that the only thing that pleased him more than being released from the service was being reunited with his wife and the love of his life, Dorothy Foy West. He was preceded in death by "Dot" in November after 72 years of marriage. "Rudolph," was well known to be the master of all things mechanical and to love everything related to farming, particularly, peanuts. His "Forks of the Creek" farm was not only the place of his birth but has now been in continuous cultivation through seven generations of his family. Survivors include his two sons, David and wife Michelle and Steve and wife Lynne. He had three grandsons, Jerry, David Nicholas and John Douglas; one great grandson, Devin and four great granddaughters, Brianna, Cami, Emberly and Addie. Funeral services will be 2:30 pm, Sunday, February 9, 2014 at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm until funeral time Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Maddox Chapel.
