Robert Joseph “Joey” Baxley, 68 of Greenwood, Florida went to his eternal home on October 30, 2024, at Chipola Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was a beloved father, husband, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He was born in Dothan, Alabama on August 6, 1956. Joey grew up in Chipley, Florida and graduated from Chipley High School in 1974. He attended Chipola Junior College, transferring to Florida State University where he graduated in 1982, with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management. He started his career with M&W Construction and then worked for Economy AC and Heat for many years.
Joey, as he was affectionately known, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. Joey loved spending time with his family. He loved his pets, watching David Jeremiah, and he enjoyed the outdoors. He has always loved being at the beach or lake and he loved taking the boat and jet skis out with his family.
Joey is preceded in death by his parents, Harvey D. and Joan Cochran Baxley; three brothers, Harvey Jr, Craig, and Chris Baxley, all of Chipley; two brothers-in-law, Chris Reeger and David Windham, and one niece, Amy Owens.
Joey is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Lynn Windham Baxley of Greenwood, FL; two sons, Jojo Baxley (Nikki) of Greenwood, FL, and Patrick Baxley of Colorado Springs, Co; one sister, Cindy Owens of Bonifay; one sister-in-law, Shelia Reeger of Jacksonville, Florida; three nieces, Amber Owens of Bonifay, Margaret Ann and Elizabeth Reeger both of Jacksonville, and a host of cousins and friends.
Funeral Services for Joey will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel with Dr. Irvin Clark and Rev. John Kramer officiating. Interment will follow in Dellwood Methodist Cemetery with James & Sikes Maddox Funeral Home directing.
The family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 PM until the time of service at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Emerald Coast Hospice and the staff at Chipola Health and Rehabilitation Center for the loving care and kindness shown to Joey during his time there. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Emerald Coast Hospice, 3015 Jefferson Street, Marianna, FL 32446.
