Robert A. Hoff, MD, 89, of Marianna, FL went to be with his loving wife Hazel and his Heavenly Father God on November 30, 2023.
Dr. Hoff, affectionately called Got-Got, was born August 3, 1934, in Wishek, North Dakota. He graduated from James McConnell High School in San Francisco, CA before joining his father and brother in the Naval Shipyard’s Apprentice Training Program, first as a Rigger and then as an Electronics Mechanic in 1951. In 1955 He joined the Air Force and flew various aircraft for almost 13 years and earned multiple Air Medals for Meritorious Service in Vietnam. In November of 1956 he married the love of his life, Hazel Williams, whom he met at Graham AFB, Marianna, FL, while playing ping-pong. They had 4 children while he served. Being a man of many facets, always needing to learn and wanting to help others, he went to Medical School at the University of Miami following his honorable discharge from the Air Force. Upon graduating from Medical School, he relocated the family to Marianna, FL in 1976, where he knew physicians were in need and established his practice. He opened the Family Health Center in 1982 and being interested in his patient’s total health, he followed up by opening the Fitness Center behind his office, located on Highway 90 East of Marianna. He practiced medicine for 26 years in Jackson County, FL. Upon retiring from Medicine, he went into the oil industry, going into business with his oldest son. He continued in the oil business until 2019.
Dr. Hoff enjoyed spending time outdoors and jogged until his 70’s. He loved to play outdoor sports and games such as tennis and Bocci Ball. He loved to read and make trades on the stock market, and he loved to travel. He and Hazel enjoyed extensive travels over the years, not only visiting all 50 states, but also many exotic and beautiful countries. They enjoyed taking cruises and took many with friends and family over the years.
Robert Hoff is preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Hazel and his parents Ruben and Thelma Hoff.
He is survived by his devoted children Robert A. Hoff, Jr. (Adaluz), Glenn A. Hoff (Jackie), Cynthia H. Milton, Patricia H. Kite (Jay); 15 grandchildren, Robert A. Hoff, III (Miriam), Candace H. Parker (Steven), Alex Stevens, Thomas Wade-Hoff, Karen Hoff, Lisa Hoff, David Hoff, Bryan Hoff, Gary Hoff, Grace Hoff, Nicole H. Green (Steven), Paul Hoff (Megan), Kelsie Watford (Kym), Kaycie Riley, Mike Milton; 12 great-grandchildren, Robert A. Hoff, IV, Audrey Hoff, Libby Hoff, J.B. Hoff, Hazel Hoff, William Stevens, William Green, Christian Green, Owen Green, Amelia Hoff, Logann Watford, Kai Messer; two sisters Diana Reaves, Carol Lukegord (Lauren); numerous nieces and nephews; and four very special caregivers, LouEttie Pate, Brenda Porter, Ginger Baxley and Shirley Pittman.
Celebration of his life, where family will receive friends will be Tuesday, December 5, 2023, from 5-7 p.m. at James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel in Marianna. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Marianna with burial following in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with The Rev. Nathan Atwood officiating and James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
Flowers are accepted or in lieu, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude for Cancer Research, a topic close to Dr. Hoff over his many years in medical practice.
