Robert Gilley

James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel Robert Gilley, 81, of Sneads, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at his home after a long illness. There were many family and friends by his bedside. Mr. Gilley was a lifelong resident of Jackson County, he retired from the Florida State Hospital after 34 years of service. Mr. Gilley owned and operated a portable sawmill where he made many friends. He was a member of El Bethel Assembly of God Church and served as a Trustee for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Ezella Gilley, three brothers, Cecil, Junior, and Johnnie, two sisters, Doris Mercer and Dorothy Gilley. Survivors include his wife, Nell, of 55 years, two sons, Bob Gilley of Sneads, Ashley Gilley (Krystal), Grand Ridge, three daughters, Saundra Swift (Henry), of Tallahassee, Robin Carnley (Rick) and Melody Toole (Steve) of Marianna; nine grandchildren, Brian and Daniel Rabon, Amanda and Allison Carnley, Kaylee and Lindsey Toole, Seth, McKenzie and Skyla Gilley and four great-grandchildren; Brendon, Alyssa, William and Sidney Rabon; one brother, Charles Gilley (Catherine), two sisters Ida Belle Stephens (Shorty) and Barbara Hare (Doug) all of Grand Ridge and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held at El Bethel Assembly of God Church, Grand Ridge, Florida at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 7, 2012 with Pastor Clinton Howell and Rev. Jack Howell officiating. Burial will follow in Dykes Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. Family will receive friends from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. at the church prior to services.
