Richard Byron "Rick" Barnes, 64, died on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at his family home in Greenwood, Florida. His life exemplified what it means to be a good man – husband, father, brother, and friend.
A lifelong resident of Jackson County, Rick was born in Marianna, Florida, on January 15, 1960, to Lucious and Virginia Barnes. He is most known for his career in automobile sales, and served his community as the sales manager at Chipola Ford for 20 years, building a reputation for his integrity, work ethic, and focus on relationships.
Rick’s entire world began and ended with his family. He deeply loved his wife of 37 years, and enjoyed a special bond and friendship with both of his children. He succeeded at his singular and honorable purpose in life to be a provider and point of stability for his family, and always made sure to let his family know how much he loved them.
Rick is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Brenda Jeter, and brother, Anthony “Tony” Barnes.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan; son, Richard Justin Barnes and his wife, Heather; daughter Carly Barnes Montuani and her husband, Gabriel; grandchildren, Braiden and Delanie; brother, Raymond Barnes; sister-in-law, Rebecca Arnold and her husband, Dennis; sister-in-law, Debbe Peck and her husband, Steve; and many loved nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel in Marianna. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel.
Rick was an avid fisherman and loved America. The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Rick’s honor be made to the Apalachicola Riverkeeper or Donald J. Trump for President 2024.
