William Maron Walker

October 24, 1948 — December 10, 2013

Rev. William Marion Walker (known as Billy to many) was born October 24, 1948, in Bellville, VA. His father was Marion Alton Walker, and his mother was Hildegard Ulbrich, a war bride who came to America during WWII after marrying William Alton. After he was born, Billy was raised in Sylavauaga, AL, where he resided until he married Mary Ellen Abernathy from Anniston, AL. Together they began pastoring churches in Semmes, AL, Lincoln, AL, Phenix City, AL, then Semmes, AL a second time. After that, they pastored in Orme Mountain,St. Pittsburg, TN, Sumiton, AL, Luverne, AL, and then to Jackson County, FL. In Jackson County, they pastored El Bethel Assembly of God for 13 years, Page Pond Assembly of God, Shady Grove Pentecostal Church, and Live Oak Assembly of God in Holmes County. Lastly, he founded United Believers Worship Center in Sneads where he retired after 37 years of pastoring. His last three years on earth he remained in the Marianna Health and Rehab Center. Survivors include his wife, Mary E. Walker of Grand Ridge; one son, Thomas Jesse Walker of Kennesaw, GA.; one daughter, Melissa Walker Benton of Tuscaloosa, AL; two brothers, George and John; one sister, Sue Dobbs; two grandchildren, Madison and Hannah Benton. Funeral services will be at 10 am, Friday, December 13, 2013 at El Bethel Assembly of God Church with Rev. Ronald Holton and Rev. Kelvin Johnson officiating. Interment will be at Johnson Family Cemetery in Grand Ridge with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm, Thursday, December 12, 2013 at the United Believers Worship Center in Sneads.
