Norman Hart Bray

The Reverend Norman Hart Bray, Rector of St. Luke's Episcopal Church died suddenly Tuesday, January 21, 2014. He was born on September 2, 1951 in El Paso, Texas, and grew up in Memphis, Tennessee. He graduated from Bishop Byrne High School in 1969 and served in the Navy from 1969 to 1975. He worked in the automotive industry for 25 years before attending the General Theological Seminary in New York City, where he graduated in 2007. He served St. Luke's in Marianna since then. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Lee and Mary Brown Bray. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Eileen Bray of Marianna; one daughter, Emily Watson and husband Evan of Daphne, AL; one son, Matthew Bray of Robertsdale, AL; two grandchildren, Jack and Evelyn Watson of Daphne, AL; five brothers, Michael Bray and wife, Mary of Columbia, MD, Stephen Bray and wife Mandy of New London, NC, Mark Bray and wife Carla of Memphis, TN, Phillip Bray and wife Amy of Greenville, AL and Tim Bray of Angola, LA; two sisters, Suzanne Martinez and husband Joe, Laura Bray all of Charleston, SC; many loved nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 9 to 10:30 am, Friday, January 24, 2014 at the MacKinnon Hall at St. Luke's Episcopal Church. A Service of Remembrance will follow at 11 am at the St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Memorization will be by cremation with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family request in lieu of flowers that donations be made to St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 3462 Lafayette Street, Marianna, Florida 32446.
