Rev. Myrtice B. Brown, 84, of Cypress, went home to be with the Lord Monday April, 28 2008. Mrs. Brown was a native and lifelong resident of Jackson County, where she was a minister of the gospel for more than 50 years. She was currently serving as pastor of Rocky Creek Community Church. In 2007, due to her health, she retired from the Jackson County Senior Citizens Association, where she sat with and attended to the elderly. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Zedaker Mears, Jimmy Maddox, and Leslie Brown; two sisters, Lillian Tharpe and Ida Martin; one brother, Eugene Byrd. She is survived by one son, Rev. Jerry Mears and wife Mary, of Cypress; two daughters, Frieda Mercer and husband Rubin of Dellwood, and Susie Stanley Walters and husband Lee of Adel, GA; one brother, Mike Byrd of Cypress; and one sister, Mildred Daniels of Cypress; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services wil be at 2 P.M. Wednesday, April 30 at the Cypress Community Church, with burial to follow in the Cypress Cemetery. James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel will direct. The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. Tuesday at Cypress Community Church in Cypress.
