Ann H. Harrison, 80, of Marianna passed away Friday, August 15th at Jackson Hospital. Born in Luverne, AL, Ann had resided in Marianna for a number of years and was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a life-long educator, teaching at Ponce de Leon, Chipley, Cottondale, Marianna Middle and Marianna High schools. She was also a proud member of Delta Kappa Gamma. Ann retired after 30 plus years to enjoy traveling with her husband, Harry. After retirement she also enjoyed helping and volunteering at the local Garden Club, Jackson County Public Library, and Jackson Hospital. She enjoyed being active with the Methodist Church's "No Easy Answers" Sunday school class and participating in the Disciple Class bible study group. Ann was known as MeeMee to her grandchildren, and was so proud of all of them. Ann was preceded in death by her husband G.C. (Harry) Harrison; Her parents, Shelby Harris and Pauline Mathews Harris; and long-time companion, M.R. Stokes. She is survived by two daughters, Priscilla (Sims) Murphy of Oldsmar, FL and Penny (Sims) Hutt of Panama City, FL; one son-in-law, Tom Murphy; two granddaughters, Cassandra Murphy Atkins and her husband Stephen, and Katie Marie Hutt; one great-grandson, Patric Sean Murphy; one sister, Ellen Norton and her husband George; one brother, Dee Harris and his wife Carol, three Nieces, Deena Roberson, Kelly Capen and Tara Harris; one grandnephew, Robert Roberson; one grandniece, Hadley Capen; step-son, Bruce Harrison; step-daughter, Susan (Harrison) Dunaway; step-grandchildren Scott Harrison, Christopher Harrison, Jennifer (Basford) Barineau, Martin Basford, Sarah (Williams) Beach, and her many friends and former students. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 23rd, 2014 at First United Methodist Church in Marianna with Rev. Bill Elwell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 2901 Caledonia St. Marianna Florida or the Jackson County Public Library 2929 Green St. Marianna, Florida.
