James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel 4278 Lafayette Street Marianna, Florida 32446 850-482-2332 Phyllis McDaniel Scott, 65, of Marianna died Friday November 16, 2007 at Jackson Hospital. Phyllis was born October 13, 1942, where she was raised in Alford with five brothers and one sister. She graduated from Cottondale High School, then attended cosmetology school in Tallahassee. Phyllis then began her career at Inez's Beauty Salon in Marianna where she worked for many years. She then went to work for the state of Florida for 16 yrs, and was awarded employee of the month, and employee of the year in 1997. During this time she was working for the Department of Corrections as the administrative assistant to two former superintendents. Phyllis later retired in 1998 due to her long battle with breast cancer. During this time she would counsel with others that had just been diagnosed, lending her strength to them. Survivors include her life long companion, a miniature schnauzer named Miss P, former husband, John P. McDaniel of Marianna; one daughter, Machelle McDaniel Campbell and husband, Larry Campbell; one grand daughter, Meghan Hill all of Tallahassee; One daughter-in law Carol McDaniel of Marianna; two brothers, Pete Scott and wife Alice of Alford, John Ferrell Scott and wife Wandis of Marianna; one sister, Annette Williams and husband, Jimmy of Panama City; numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her son, John P. McDaniel IV; father, W.L. Scott; mother, Myrtle Scott, and three brothers, Golden Scott, Gene Scott, and Davis Scott. Funeral Services will be conducted at 10 a.m on Monday November 19, 2007 at Alford United Methodist Church in Alford with Rev. Dalton Ott officiating, burial will follow in the Alford City Cemetery with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The Family will receive friends Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel
