James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel Philip "Phil" Tatom Lowery, 66 of Donalsonville, Georgia died Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Southeast Medical Center in Dothan, Alabama. Phil was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas in October, 1948 and later moved as a youngster to Greenwood, Florida where he grew up and attended Greenwood High School. Phil served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966-1986 where he retired as a Technical Sergeant. He also served as a Jackson County Sheriff's Deputy for twenty years and retired in 2008. Phil was an avid sportsman and loved the outdoors. He owned and collected classic hot rods. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Dorothy Lowery, and two sisters, Cornelia Davis, and Glenda Basford. He is survived by his wife Cynthia Lowery and his sister Annette Emerich and husband Guy of Punta Gorda, FL. Surviving children include Brandi Charles and husband Stanley, Wendy Deese and husband Buck and Dorothy Lowery and two stepchildren Gene Nobles and wife Kimberly, and Brad Nobles and wife Katrina. Nineteen grandchildren include Ethan Lowery, April Byrd, Philip Byrd, Stephanie Darby, Jud Darby, Evan Lowery, Aryan Charles, Beclan Charles, Bjarni Lowery, Anita Lowery, Trausti Lowery, Kolbrunn Lowery, Amanda Grace Forrest,Buck Austin Deese, Len Nobles, Sydney Nobles, Cole Nobles, Trenton Nobles, Hannah Nobles and Halli Nobles. Two great-grandchildren Tyke Byrd and Taylin Byrd. Funeral services will be held at James & Sikes Funeral Home on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Juno Douglas officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenwood United Methodist Church cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 18 at 1 p.m. at James and Sikes Funeral Home.
