James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel Peggy Claudene Carr Sommers, 80, of Marianna died Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Chipola Nursing Pavilion in Marianna, Fl. Born in Attalla, AL, Mrs. Sommers was a former resident of Coates Bend, AL. She has lived in Marianna for the past 37 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Mytris Washburn Carr. Survivors include her husband, of 59 years, William Jay "Bill" Sommers of Marianna; a son, Danny Carr and wife Lou Ann of Southside, AL; daughters, Nila Jammes and husband, Vance of Stockbridge, GA, Teena Enriquez and husband, Mario of Augusta, GA, Wantia Sapp and husband, Carroll of Baxley, GA and Lotus Paige of Marianna; a sister, Betty Hammett of Boaz, AL; a brother, Tommie L. Carr of Attalla, AL; eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Graveside funeral services will be at 11 am, Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Crestwood Cemetery in Gadsden, AL with Brother Dale Butler officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm, Friday, July 17, 2015 at Crestwood Chapel in Gadsden, AL. The family would like to thank and acknowledge the staff at Chipola Nursing Pavilion and Covenant Hospice for their care and support.
