James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel 4278 Lafayette Street Marianna, Florida 32446 850-482-2332 Courtland Paul Pumphrey, 65, of Marianna, died Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Jackson Hospital. Mr. Pumphrey was a native and lifelong resident of Jackson County, and attended Hasty Pond Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, riding horses, and having cookouts with friends. He was always willing to help anybody that needed help, and loved his family. Mr. Pumphrey was preceded in death by his parents, Hershel and Lucretia Pumphrey. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Pumphrey; two sons, Steve Pumphrey and wife Jennifer of Sanford, NC, and David Pumphrey and wife Heather of Winder, GA.; four brothers, Willard Alsobrook of Panama City, Donald Pumphrey of Pensacola, Doyle Pumphrey of Lynchburg, VA, David Pumphrey of Cairo, GA; four sisters, Verneal Runnels of Douglasville, GA, Norma Ellis of Grand Ridge, Mae Bishop of Cottondale, Berta Keene of Mauldin, SC; three grandchildren, Sierra Warren, Jonathan Ray, Jesse Ray; three great-grandchildren, Jordan Warren, Shawn Warren, Christian Ray. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Friday, July 16, 2010 at Maddox Chapel with Rev. Dallas Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in Lipford Cemetery with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
