Orrie Vernice Jackson, age 90, of Grand Ridge, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 21, 2010. She was born on July 5, 1920 to John Thomas Allen and Eldis Justiss Allen, of Two Egg, Florida. She was a loving Christian wife and mother and a member of New Hope Free Will Baptist Church, near Dellwood, where she served faithfully as Adult Sunday School Teacher and Church Treasurer for many years. Predeceased by her parents, John Thomas Allen and Eldis Justiss Allen, her husband of 51 years, James Leslie Jackson, three sisters, Katie Mae Hart, Eleanor Pittman, and Lillian Jackson, and two brothers, Lynwood Allen and Billy Joe Allen. Survived by her son, James Leslie Jackson, Jr. and his wife, Dianne, of Brunswick, Georgia, her daughter, Susan J. Carr and her husband, Richard, of Grand Ridge, and daughter, Donna J. Braxton and her husband, Holland, of Grand Ridge. Two granddaughters, Leslie Joy Jackson-McBrayer and husband, Denny, of Brunswick, Georgia, and Ashley Carr of Grand Ridge, and one great grandson, Jackson Denton McBrayer of Brunswick, Georgia. Three sisters, Lena Green of Sneads, Daisy Whiddon and Betty Eason (her faithful caregiver) of Greenwood, one sister-in-law, Louise Mooneyham, and her husband, Milton, of Grand Ridge, and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday December 23, 2010 at New Hope Free Will Baptist Church near Dellwood. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
