James Sikes Funeral HomeMaddox ChapelNorman Gene Blakeslee, formally of Largo, died Tuesday, February 11, 2014 in Marianna, he was 72. He was born on July 6, 1941, in Erie, PA, to Arthur Leroy and Dorothy Maella Sturdivant Blakeslee.
Norman graduated in 1961 from Academy High School in Erie, PA and moved to Florida with his family in the summer of 1972. He was proud of his Cherokee Indian Heritage and Christian by faith.
Preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gerald Allen Blakeslee in 1943.
Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Diane L. Blakeslee; three daughters, Darlene A. Wilkinson, of Clearwater, Michelle R. Barrett, of Brooksville, and Valorie J. Dilnneo of Waynesville, N.C.; four sons, Norman L. Blakeslee, of Pelzer, S.C., Todd J. Blakeslee, of Largo, FL, Douglas C. Palow of Cape Coral, FL, and Dennis W. Palow, of Albany, N.Y.; two sisters, Jaci R. (Thomas) Burek, of Palm Harbor, FL, and Carole F. Blakeslee, of Erie PA; one brother, Ronald C. Blakeslee, of Erie, PA; 16 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 3 p.m., Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Caverns Road Church of Christ with Minister Tom Bowling officiating. James Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. Interment will be in Wales Cemetery, Greene Two, Erie PA.
Family will receive friends at 2 p.m., one hour prior to the service.
