James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel Norman Lee Baxter, 76, of Malone, Florida went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at his residence. He was surrounded by his loving family. Norman was born on February 14, 1935 to Louis S. and Beulah Baxter of Malone, Florida. He served his country in the United States Air Force for a total of four years. He retired from Kaiser Agricultural Chemicals as a farm market manager. He was a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday School Director and teacher for numerous years. During his life, he enjoyed visiting the homebound and sharing the gospel. He was an avid race fan and enjoyed anything to do with cars. Norman was preceded in death by his parents, Louis S. and Beulah Baxter. He was also preceded in death by his two brothers, Grady Baxter and Johnnie Baxter; his five sisters, Ida Mae Baxter, Lucille Tidwell, Ethel Chatwood, Etta Mae Herring and Grace Franklin. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Jean; one daughter, Pamela McArthur and husband Larry of Bascom; two sons, Mitch Baxter and wife Vicki of Malone and Keith Baxter and wife Gina of Green Lake, Wisconsin; eight grandchildren, Joanna Padgett and husband Lee of Abbeville, Alabama, Jennifer McArthur of Panama City, Gannon Baxter of Malone, Jim McArthur and wife Damara of Bascom, Hannah Pickels and husband Travis of Malone, Lindsey Baxter of St. Petersburg, Emily Baxter of Malone, and Brannon Dickens-Baxter of Green Lake, Wisconsin; two great-grandsons Hunter and Trevor Padgett of Abbeville, Alabama. Visitation for Mr. Baxter will be held Thursday, March 17, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church in Malone, Florida. The celebration of life will be held on Friday, March 18, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church with Reverends Gary French and Timothy Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made in memory of Norman Baxter to Covenant Hospice at 4215 Kelson Ave Suite E, Marianna, FL 32446 or to Friendship Baptist Church Building Fund at 5507 Friendship Church Road, Malone, FL 32445.
