James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel Norma Mildred "Millie" Bazzell passed away December 13th, 2012 at Jackson Hospital. She had been a resident of the Chipola Nursing Pavilion since 2008. Ms. Bazzell was born November 22, 1920 at home in Lovedale. She was preceded in death by her parents and all of her brothers and sisters. She is survived by two sister-in-laws, Doris Bazzell of Lovedale and JoAnn Bazzell of South Carolina. She had two very special nieces, Sharon Cox and husband, Alfred of Lovedale and Connie Raffield and husband, Scott of Panama City, Fl. She is survived by several other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ms. Bazzell had a close first cousin who was always like a sister to her, Dorothy Jackson of Jacksonville. She was a member of Lovedale Baptist Church and loved her Lord. Actually, Ms. Bazzell was the first Choir Director at Lovedale. She always sang and loved music. "Aunt Millie" enjoyed many hours of singing with her family all through her life. In her very early years, she was a professional singer as well. Ms. Bazzell retired from J.C. Penny's Credit Department in 1984. The family would like to express their appreciation for the care and kindness given to "Aunt Millie" her last few days at Jackson Hospital. Also, the family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at the Chipola Nursing Pavilion for the wonderful care and many acts of kindness shown toward "Aunt Millie" the last 4½ years. Graveside services will be Monday, December 17th, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bazzell Cemetery in Lovedale with Dr. Steve Canada officiating. No visitation is planned.
