Norbert "Doc" Varnum

Norbert "Doc" Varnum, 73, of Marianna died Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at his daughters home in Coos Bay, Or. A native of the Carr Community, Mr. Varnum had resided in Marianna for many years, he was retired from Chipola Jr. College where he was affectionately known as "Doc". He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Louise Varnum; his parents, Alto Billie and Verna Grace Basford Varnum and a sister, Inez Varnum. Survivors include his daughter, Dena Morgan and husband, David of Coos Bay, Or; one brother, Billie Gene Varnum and wife, Louise of Nashville; two sisters, Sible Firestone of Bristol and Janie Pelt and husband, Doug of Clarksville, two grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 am Thursday, January 10, 2008 at Maddox Chapel with Rev. Stephen Potter officiating, burial will follow at Damacus Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery, James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 pm, Wednesday, December 9, 2008 at Maddox Chapel.
