Nellie Elemetter Edenfield Johnson, 82, of Grand Ridge died Thursday, October 29, 2015 at her residence surrounded by her family.
Elemetter was born in Grand Ridge and resided most of her life in Jackson County. She obtained her GED and graduated practical nursing school at Chipola Jr. College in 1979. She later retired after 30 years of service from Florida State Hospital. She was a homemaker who enjoyed her family, camping and traveling with family and friends. She loved God, His Church and was an active member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, George Randall Johnson; two sisters, Hazel Nelson and Marie Newsome; three brothers, Rollen Phillip Edenfield, Troy Edenfield and Robert Virgil Ferrell.
Survivors include sons, Aaron Randall Johnson and wife, Danye Ann of Wildwood, Michael Terry Johnson and wife, Debra of Grand Ridge, Edwin Johnson and wife, Brenda of Navarre, FL; daughter, Teresa Durden and husband, Larry of Grand Ridge; sister, Irma Lee Rodkey of Allentown, PA; grandchildren, Nevin Durden, Eric Johnson, Jami Durden Folsom, Heather Johnson, Rebekah Johnson Stephens, George D. Johnson, Rachel Johnson Miles, Sarah Johnson, Allison Johnson, Andrew Johnson and Elijah Johnson; 12 great-grandchildren; her special care givers, Anh Darby Shire and Jean Herring.
Funeral services will be Saturday, October 31, 2015, 2pm at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Grand Ridge with Rev. David Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
Visitation will be Friday, October 30, 2015 from 5p.m. until 7p.m. at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel.
