James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel Myrtle Fennell Padgett passed away on July 20, 2013, at the age of 86 at the Chipola Nursing Pavilion. She was born on October 28, 1926, in Kynesville and was a lifelong resident of Jackson County. She and her husband always had the most amazing garden. They shared the bounty with friends and family. She could coax the most difficult of seeds into flowers or fruit.The word no was seldom in her vocabulary. She was tireless in her efforts to help others.She was an extraordinary cook. Her country cooking and amazing desserts were loved by all. She managed a deli where every child who came by was given a potato log or chicken drumstick.Most of all, she was the quintessential mother. Her children were her first priority and she even gave them presents for Mothers Day. When grandchildren came along, she expanded her heart to give them all the love, hugs, and affection that was such a part of her nature.She loved church and gospel singing. Her faith sustained her all her life. The world was a better place for having her in it. Now that loving spirit is shining in Heaven. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 54 years, Lloyd Augustus Padgett and by all six of her brothers and sisters. Survivors include two daughters Barbara Dilbert and husband, Joe, of Orlando, Betty Demmon and George Spruce of Marianna; and son, Billy Joe Padgett of Marianna; seven grandchildren, Spencer Dilbert, Samantha Gendron and her husband, Todd, all of Orlando, Nikki Davis, Jenny Bryan and husband, Josh, all of Marianna, Bekka Cheek and husband, Brian, of Elkin, North Carolina, Charle McConnell and husband, Colby, of Auburn, Alabama, and Tanner Padgett and wife, Emily, of Tallahassee; seven great grandchildren, Twins Mason and Sydney Gendron of Orlando, Gannon Lloyd Davis, Parker and Sam Bryan, all of Marianna, Dylan Cheek of Elkin, North Carolina and Gracie Padgett of Tallahassee; brother in law, John Padgett and wife, Betty; sisters in law, Katie Padgett, Lola Lambe and husband, Arnold, and Eddie Hilton and husband, Pete, all of Marianna. Many nieces and nephews and all of her extended family at the Chipola Nursing Pavilion. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel. Interment will follow in the Bethlehem Baptist Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Madddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m to 8 p.m. Monday, July 22, 2013 at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel.
