Born in Defuniak Springs on August 23, 1952, Mr. Truette was raised in Chipley and graduated from Chipley High School in 1970. He began working straight out of high school with the Florida Department of Transportation in Chipley and retired in 2002. He also served as an Officer for Cottondale Police Department for 10 years. After battling and defeating cancer, in 2004, Mr. Truette seeked a new adventure and worked as a Security Contractor off of the Persian Gulf in Doha Qatar. After a year overseas, he then came back home to Marianna to serve 5 years as a uniformed Deputy for the Jackson County Florida Sheriff's Department. Mr. Truette's hobbies included being significantly involved in his church, riding motorcycles, target practicing with firearms and spectating sporting events. He was most recently a member of Cypress Baptist Church and was significantly involved in men's prayer groups and youth events and activities. Mr. Truette was preceded in death by Mother, Theda Kirkland Truette; Father, Mac Truette and brother-in-law, Eli Carr of Chipley. Survivors include his wife of 39 years, JoAnn C. Truette of Marianna; two sons, Greg Truette and Chris Truette and wife, Hannah of Marianna; one daughter, Kim Strickland and husband, Jonathan of Macclenny; one grandchild, Gabriella Strickland; one sister, JoAnn Truette Ritner and husband, Charles of Chipley; one brother, Randall Truette and wife, Mina of Chipley; and a large number of neices and nephews. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 22, 2015, 10 a.m. at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel. Interment will follow in Coulliette-Gilley Cemetery in Dellwood with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel, Marianna, Florida.
